Eni on 17 September announced the successful commissioning and start-up of production at the offshore Baltim South West gas field. With the start-up of the first well, BSW1, the field is now producing at an initial rate of 100mcf/d from a new offshore platform connected to the onshore Abu Madi gas plant through a new 44km, 26-inch pipeline. Five more wells are planned under the development programme with the aim of raising production to 500mcf/d by Q2 2020.
