John Hamilton is Managing Director of CbI, where he plays a key role in the company’s business development and strategy while also ensuring clients are provided with high-quality quantitative and qualitative research. 

John has worked in every part of CbI's business and is active in research and investigations, writing, editing and managing strategic advisory, energy consultancy, and regular monitoring projects. He has overseen and delivered hundreds of reports to clients.

As a specialist in North Africa he produces regular analyses, detailed monitoring reports and briefings on Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt for clients and for CbI's own publications. He has been covering these countries since 2007. He reads, writes and speaks standard Arabic and Spanish, gets along in French, and is also fluent in Bulgarian. His travel memoir of five years spent in Bulgaria entitled The Good Balkans was published by Wild Man Books in 2009.
