Carlyle backs new Heavey venture

Tullow Oil veterans Aidan Heavey and Tom Hickey have won backing from The Carlyle Group for a new company targeting acquisitions of up to $1bn, focusing on oil and gas assets across sub-Saharan Africa. Carlyle Group said on 1 October that Boru Energy would aim to assemble a portfolio of primarily non-operated interests in production assets spread across several countries, with significant commercialisation potential and where the operator is a high-quality national, international or independent oil and gas company, Carlyle said.
