US Sanctions three Kuwaitis

The US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on three men it says are terrorist financiers, all of whom are thought to be Kuwaitis, under Executive Order 13224 on 6 August. In a statement, the department said Kuwaiti nationals Shafi Sultan Mohammed Al-Ajmi and Hajjaj Fahd Hajjaj Muhammad Shabib Al-Ajmi had been collecting and delivering money to Al-Qaeda’s Syrian franchise Jabhat Al-Nusra; Kuwaiti media identified the third man, Abdelrahman Khalaf Ubayd Juday Al-Anizi – accused of financing and facilitating the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – as another Kuwaiti. Hajjaj Al-Ajmi was also included on UK and UN sanctions lists in August.
